The couple have been in the Maldives since they landed on the island of Hulhule since Sunday night. A witness to their departure from Italy told Us Weekly, "Tom and Katie were smiling a lot and kissed their baby on the head outside the terminal." They took a private jet owned by James Packer, an Australian media mogul who attended their wedding.
The 4,500-mile flight didn't lessen the newlyweds' cheeriness. Another spy told People magazine that upon arrival, "Mr. and Mrs. Cruise were smiling so much. They looked very happy." The People source claims that Tom and Katie had around 40 pieces of luggage and a bunch of toys for Suri.
The flight wasn't the end of Tom and Katie's journey. Once they disembarked, they boarded a jetty to a speed boat, which took them to a luxury yacht. An onlooker told Us, "They walked to the [jetty] holding hands…The baby was in Tom Cruise's arms. They both kissed the baby just before they got on the speed boat."
The yacht, MV Arctic, will carry the couple for one week. An insider told Us Weekly that the MV Arctic is "just like a private small island. It has all the facilities they could need - they can eat, drink, sleep and live in total luxury on board." After their week of yacht life, Mr. And Mrs. Cruise will head to the North Islands of the Maldives to snorkel.
Mohamed Hussain Shareef, chief government spokesman for the Maldives said, "Yes, [the Cruises] are here, I can confirm that. They have gone to one of the islands, but this is very, very secret." Regarding the weather that the couple could expect, Shareef said, "It has been raining heavily the past week and there are predictions of scattered showers. However, right now there is sunshine."
