Reese Witherspoon goes home for the holidays

Despite having won an Oscar in March, with her seven-year marriage over and divorce proceedings in her near future, Reese Witherspoon doesn't have much to be thankful for this year. In hopes of escaping her recent intense media scrutiny, Witherspoon has traveled to Tennessee for the holidays to be close to her family, reports the National Enquirer.

An insider told the Enquirer, "Reese has been a mess since she filed for divorce. She fled to her family in Nashville to be protected. She's been calling friends and spending hours on the phone pouring out her heart."

Ryan has been dealing with the break up quite differently from his wife. The source says he "hasn't seemed to skip a beat. After Reese dumped him, he went down to Miami on a party spree and then ended up in Costa Rica…After his trips to Miami and Costa Rica, Ryan returned to Los Angeles to pick up the rest of his things. Reese wouldn't come back until Ryan was gone. She said she didn't want to set eyes on him."

Adding to Reese's heartache is the fact that her children don't know how to process the split. Says the source, "While Deacon is too young to understand, Ava doesn't understand why her father is gone."
