Joel Madden claims Hilary Duff dumped him

They have been through a lot together, from her first love to first stalkers, but Hilary Duff and Joel Madden have called it quits. Good Charlotte frontman, Madden was overheard telling fans that he is single, reports the Chicago Tribune's Red Eye.

The newspaper claims that Joel announced the break up during a DJ gig at a Chicago club called Enclave. States the Tribune, “Madden told clubgoers Duff broke up with him about ten days ago and that their eight-year age difference was causing problems.�?

19-year-old Duff and 27-year-old Madden had been publicly dating for a little over a year. The pair were reluctant to admit to their romance at first due to the fact that Hilary was still a minor when they began seeing each other.
