Ellen Pompeo is engaged

Ellen Pompeo's character Meredith on "Grey's Anatomy" may be known for her bad luck in love, but in real life, Ellen doesn't have that problem. She and her boyfriend of three years, record producer, Chris Ivery have gotten engaged.

Pompeo's rep confirmed the news to People magazine. The rep says, "[Ellen] was surprised and thrilled" when Chris popped the question on her 37th birthday Friday. After a breakfast at home, Chris gave Ellen a 3.5-carat emerald-cut Tacori diamond in a platinum setting.

Pompeo and Ivery have not yet set a wedding date.
