Britney Spears Divorce Update

Pop beauty Britney Spears is hard at work on her first original album since 2003's In the Zone, spending hours at the Sony Music recording studio in New York City reports People Magazine.

At a Louis Vuitton party in New York City on Thursday night, producer Pharrell Williams told PEOPLE he's on board.

"The stuff I'm about to do is amazing, but I don’t like talking about what I’m about to do." He paused, then said, "Okay, I'm going in with Britney."

Spears, 24, filed for divorce on Tuesday from failed rapper Kevin Federline. She's seeking custody of their two sons, 1-year-old Sean Preston and Jayden James, who was born Sept. 12.

Federline, who's been making the rounds promoting his hip-hop debut, "Playing with Fire," counter-filed court papers Wednesday seeking sole custody and spousal support.

Michael Sands, a rep for Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, tells PEOPLE that Federline is holding up fine despite the fact that the divorce filing "caught Kevin totally by surprise. I think Kevin's doing pretty well, considering this disastrous situation. But I believe something good will come out of this."

As for Federline's effort to gain sole custody of his children with Spears, Sean Preston, 1, and Jayden James (born Sept. 12), Sands says, "Kevin's interested in having as much time as he's allowed with the kids, so he wants full legal and physical custody, with visitation rights for Britney." He adds, "If there were no kids involved, it would be easy, but it's going to take time to iron out a lot of different issues."

Federline, will be on the road promoting his debut album, Playing with Fire, through Nov. 24.

At his recent House of Blues performance in Chcago, the venue was packed with a standing-room-only audience - though tickets were being given away free.

Whilst on stage on Thursday the rapper declared, "I'm single now. Who wants to dance with a pimp?"

According to The Sun, fans at the gig wittily brandished signs from the courier company FedEx as testament to the couple's split.

Meanwhile, Britney Spears is reportedly offering pictures of her new baby Jayden James
to magazines for free - to prevent estranged husband Kevin Federline from
cashing in.
It has been claimed that there is a clause in the couple's prenuptial
agreement that entitles Kevin to all proceeds from pictures of their wedding
and their children.
Britney, 24, sold pictures of her 2004 nuptials and of first baby Sean
Preston, after he was born last year, to People magazine, but is not
offering the exclusive pictures of eight-week-old Jayden James to the
publication.
The newly single singer has instead offered the pictures to glossy monthly
magazines in a bid to boost her image, the same as Tom Cruise and Katie
Holmes did with photos of baby daughter Suri recently.
An anonymous editor on a monthly women's magazine who has been offered the
pictures said: "Monthly women's magazines don't write cheques for photos and
interviews, as People reportedly has for her in the past."

In other news Britney Spears has reportedly placed her Malibu, California mansion up for sale. .
The lavish abode includes an outdoor kitchen, spa, gym, tennis courts, a $150,000 nursery and a recording studio.

The New York Post reports Spears is asking $13.5m for the mansion.

An finally, Britney Spears's first husband, Jason Alexander, has spoken out about his ex's impending divorce from Kevin Federline.

Alexander, whom Spears wed in Las Vegas in 2004 (their marriage was annulled 55 hours later), tells TV's Extra of Federline: "I don't hate the guy. … I think he made an idiot of himself."

Asked whether he thought Federline married the pop star for her money, Alexander replied, "I don't know, the only thing he's done since they've been married is spend money."

"He won't get the kids ... he can't take care of his first two."

Shar Jackson, the mother of two of Kevin Federline's children, says the media should stop ridiculing the aspiring rapper.

"He's such a nice guy," the 30-year-old actress tells "Inside Edition" in an interview that was to air Thursday. "He's made some mistakes but everybody else doesn't have the whole world pointing their finger at their mistakes."

Jackson and Federline, 28, are the parents of a 4-year-old girl, Kori, and a 2-year-old boy, Kaleb. They dated before he became involved with Spears, whom he married in 2004, while Jackson was pregnant.

Jackson, who starred in TV's "Moesha" in the late `90s, says Federline does not pay child support to her. But, she adds, "He does pay for their school, and they go to a very expensive private school."
