Scarlett to record an album of Tom Waits covers

Scarlett Johansson has wowed the public with her good looks and her acting chops for years, but now she’s ready to wow us with her singing ability. According to Fox News’s Roger Friedman, Johansson has inked a deal to release her first album.

Friedman reports that Scarlett made the deal with the Atco label from Rhino Records. Her first album will be called "Scarlett Sings Tom Waits" and is currently in production. As the title indicates, Scarlett’s record will be made up of Tom Waits covers and should be out next spring.

Friedman’s sources claim Johansson has a “lovely, whispery delivery that carries a tune nicely.� This comes as no surprise to those who follow Scarlett news closely. Earlier this year, Andrew Lloyd Webber had hoped that she would take on the role of Maria in a London run of The Sound of Music after she impressed him with her singing voice. He later complained to the press about her “ridiculous� demands when it didn’t work out.
