Owen Wilson has become a part of Kate Hudson's family, say friends

Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson have won the approval of their friends after proving that their relationship is more than a fling. Their relationship made headlines when it broke shortly after Hudson had announced her split from husband, Chris Robinson and many were skeptical about the new romance. But Us Weekly reports that the pair is still going strong two months later.

Kate and Owen, who were cautious about being seen together early on, are now being more open about their relationship and were spotted at Les Deux in LA on October 20. But their love will be put to the test now that they experience their first extended separation from each other. Hudson will be spending the next few weeks in Australia to shoot Fool's Gold with Matthew McConaughey and Wilson will stay in Los Angeles to shoot Drillbit Taylor. A source close to the Hudson camp told Us Weekly that Wilson "will see [Hudson] when he's done shooting."

Friends don't expect the distance will hurt Kate and Owen's relationship. An insider told Us that Owen "has become part of the family." And while Hudson's confidantes were reluctant to welcome Wilson into the group, now "they see that it's for the best, and that Owen makes her happy."
