McCartney's divorce gets ugly

Paul McCartney is probably wishing he could go back to yesterday. His divorce from his second wife, Heather Mills just got really ugly. In court documents obtained by London’s Evening Standard, Mills accuses the former Beatle of being an abusive and insensitive drunk.

Heather claims that, among many other allegations, Paul choked her, poured wine on her, cut her with a broken wine glass and forbid her to breastfeed their child. Paul has slammed the accusations in a statement made to the press through his lawyers. His lawyers’ statement read, “Our client would very much like to respond in public and in detail to the allegations made recently against him by his wife and published in the press but he recognizes, on advice, that the only correct forum for his response to the allegations made against him is in the current divorce proceedings."

Many people have called into question the validity of Heather’s claims. A source told the Evening Standard, "This is coming from a woman with a well-documented problem with the truth…The suggestion for instance he stabbed her with a wine bottle is an outrageous accusation which is designed to damage his reputation and hurt him."

McCartney’s former publicist is also on his side and says, "Heather Mills is a complete fantasist and I would not believe her if she told me the sun set in the West."
