|
Pop babe, Madonna has denied rumors that she chose to adopt a baby from Afria after talking to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt about their adoption of daughter, Zahara, from Ethiopia last year. During her interview with Oprah she explains: “I’ve never had any discussions with Brad or Angelina about adoption. I’ve never actually met Angelina Jolie. “My husband is good friends with Brad because they’ve worked together, and we had dinner with Brad after Angelina had adopted her baby from Ethiopia but we never had a discussion about it. “I never sought their advice and I never considered adopting a child from Los Angeles, nor did I discuss with anyone but my husband and our social worker, who did the home study, exactly where it is we would like to adopt the child from. In other news, Yohane Banda the father of Madonna's new baby is upset that Madonna went on 'Oprah' informing viewes that his wife and other children died of AIDS. Yohane says his wife died of anaemia - not AIDS reports Faded Youth.

Madonna has the perfect opportunity to bring to light a major flaw in international adoption: closed records. She was fortunate enough to have a face to face meeting with the birthfather, which became very important in clearly communicating each other's intent and wishes. Most often, this is not the case. She will now have a story of love to share with her adopted son. Birthparents place their children for adoption out of love - and this does not change because of an address in this world. As author of "Because I Loved You" I encourage adoptive parents to find out more about the love behind a birthfamily's choice - so you have the information you need to answer your child's questions one day. Children need these stories of love - let's find a way to get it to them!
