Haley Joel Osment receives probation

If you want to cast Haley Joel Osment in your next movie, you might have to check with his probation officer first. The former child star was sentenced to probation on Thursday as a result of the drunk driving and marijuana possession charges made against him, stemming from the car accident he had in July. Osment pleaded no contest to the charges.

The 18-year-old actor will also have to pay $1,500 in fines and complete alcohol rehabilitation counseling. In exchange, his two misdemeanor counts will be dismissed.
At the time of his crash, Osment's blood alcohol level was .16 percent, which is twice the legal limit in California. He broke a rib and injured his shoulder when his 1995 Saturn flipped over.
