Mel Gibson talks about his arrest

Mel Gibson’s next movie, Apocalypto isn’t scheduled for release until December 8, but it looks like the director is already beginning his promotional tour. Gibson has been interviewed by ABC’s Diane Sawyer (<- video) about his drunk driving arrest in July, most likely in attempt to clear his name with the public before his film comes out.

During the interview, which will air on “Good Morning America�? on Thursday and Friday, Mel said that the anti-Semitic comments he made were the "stupid rambling of a drunkard."

Gibson claims, "The last thing I want to be is that kind of monster…What I need to do [is] to heal myself and to be assuring and allay the fears of others and to heal them if they had any heart wounds from something I may have said.�?

The Thursday portion of the interview will cover Gibson’s alcoholism and his drunk driving. The Friday portion will deal with Gibson’s anti-Semitic remarks.
