Jessica's not Joe's little girl anymore

Jessica Simpson and her notoriously bossy father Joe may be headed for a rift. Tension between the two is getting more and more noticeable as a newly-divorced Jessica attempts to assert her independence. According to the National Enquirer, the singer is finally putting her foot down and her dad is not happy about it.

As is common between fathers and daughters, one particular point of contention between Joe and Jessica is Jessica’s dating life. Joe does not picture his daughter with the fun-loving type of guys - like Dane Cook, Adam Levine and John Mayer - she’s been linked to since splitting with Nick Lachey. But Jessica doesn’t care what her dad thinks. A source for the Enquirer said, “[Jessica] recently told [Joe], 'Dad, I'm capable of making my own choices. If I need your opinion, I have all your numbers!'

Unsurprisingly, Papa Simpson was blown away by Jessica’s outburst. The insider said, "Joe was shocked. He just wants what all Dads want - for his kid to be happy. Joe is a worrier, and he doesn't want Jessica to settle for the first guy she's with. That's why they're clashing. But Jessica wants to have fun right now - and her dad just can't seem to stop meddling."
