Meredith says the View is "a joke"

People respond to new opportunities in many different ways. When Katie Couric left her position as co-host of “Today,� she fondly remembered the 16 years she had spent there. Her replacement, Meredith Vieira, on the other hand, isn’t so generous about “The View,� the show she spent 9 years on.

In a recent interview with Time magazine, Vieira confessed that she no longer watches “The View.� She said, “The day after Star [Jones] made her announcement [about leaving], I watched. I feel very sad for everything that's happened and for everybody involved. I'm proud of the work we did there, but it's not a good time in the history of that show. It's hard to watch. It sort of became a joke."

Meredith wasn’t entirely negative about the show, stating that “it was like a wonderful, comfortable pair of slippers.� She did counter the positive remark by adding that the program had made her jaded. "You can become so blasé," she said.
