Jessica Simpson's dad wants her to dump Eva

Jessica Simpson’s father Joe’s meddling ways were said to have been related to her split from Nick Lachey. Luckily, since their break up Jessica has had her girlfriends to lean on. But now the National Enquirer is reporting that Joe is trying to take one of them away from Jessica as well.

Jessica and Eva Longoria became pals after their hairdresser, Ken Paves introduced them. Eva even starred in Jessica’s recent video for her single, “A Public Affair.� But Daddy Simpson doesn’t want Jessica to hang around Eva “because every time they're out in public, he claims, Eva hogs the limelight,� says the Enquirer.

When Jessica continued to make plans with Eva despite her father’s disappointment in the friendship, he took matters into his own hands. Joe heard that his daughter had made plans for a girls’ night with Eva and some other ladies. To keep Eva away from Jess, Mr. Simpson “had an assistant phone Eva and tell her Jessica had to cancel because she was ill. Then he arranged for a private plane to whisk Jess and galpals to Vegas,� says the Enquirer.

Longoria later heard about the fun she missed and was “furious.� Jessica tried to make up to her friend, but Eva’s feelings remained hurt.
