HBO, 24 big winners at the Emmys

Last night’s 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards ended up being very generous to some new faces. Kiefer Sutherland, Mariska Hargitay and Jeremy Piven all won their first awards for their roles on “24,��? “Law and Order: SVU��? and “Entourage,��? respectively. “24��? also took home the award for best Drama Series. NBC’s “The Office,��? meanwhile, won the award for Best Comedy Series.

Some old faces were also honored with Emmys. Julia Louis-Dreyfus broke the infamous Seinfeld curse by taking home the trophy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for "The New Adventures of Old Christine." “Monk’s��? Tony Shalhoub was honored for the second time as Best Comedy Actor. Megan Mullally won her second and last Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Emmy for the role of Karen on “Will and Grace.��? In the Best Supporting category for Drama Series, Alan Alda and Blythe Danner won for “The West Wing��? and “Huff,��? respectively.

HBO, though relatively ignored in the original series categories this year, was still the night’s top winner with a total of 26 awards. Its movies “The Girl in the Café��? and “Elizabeth I��? were highly lauded winning most of the awards in the miniseries and movie categories.
