Busta Rhymes arrested for assaulting a man

Hip Hop star, Busta Rhymes has been arrested for assaulting a man after performing at the Heineken AmsterJam Festival.

The rapper was taken into custody with two members of his entourage as they attempted to leave Randalls Island in New York where the show was being held, the New York Daily News reports.

The multi-platinum-selling rapper has been charged with third-degree assault after police say he helped beat a man who had accidentally spat on his car, the New York Post reported.

The spitter allegedly 'was roughed up,' a person familiar with the complaint tells the Post.

A source in the police department commented: "I don't know if this is normally something he would even be arrested for, but his bouncer was killed and he didn't want to cooperate. This is our way of dealing with it."

The unidentified man sought medical attention following the Aug. 12 incident, but waited six days before notifying police, the Post said

Police have been wanting to interview Rhymes since the February shooting death of one of his bodyguards, Israel Ramirez reports ShowBuzz.

Ramirez, 29, was killed outside a Brooklyn studio where Rhymes was recording a music video.

The rapper and another bodyguard were sued the following month by a fan who says the two men beat him after he asked for the Rhymes' autograph.
