Most people associate the role of Billy Flynn in Chicago with the actor who played him on the big screen, Richard Gere. But chances are Billy Flynn will be getting a whole lot smoother in his next incarnation. R&B sensation Usher will be the next star to attempt the role on Broadway.

27-year-old Usher will make his debut in Chicago on August 22, two days after actress Rita Wilson leaves the role of Roxie Hart. Usher’s reign as Billy Flynn will last until October 1.

The five-time Grammy award winner said, "I have always admired Broadway actors for their showmanship, dedication and focus that goes into performing live on stage every night. Being on Broadway allows you to connect to audiences in a whole new way that's different from music and movies."
