Haley Joel Osment in car accident; alcohol may be involved

Haley Joel Osment got an Oscar nomination for pretending to see dead people. It’s likely the actor’s own life flashed before his eyes this morning. Osment was hospitalized early on Thursday after getting into a car accident on his way to his Los Angeles area home. Authorities claim the 18-year-old lost control of his car.

According to Lt. Greg Sisneros of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Osment’s 1995 Saturn ran into a brick wall and flipped at around 1 am Thursday. He was alone in the car and was awake and lucid following the accident. Sisneros says Haley was taken to Pasadena’s Huntington Hospital.

Another official in the Sheriff’s Department told “Access Hollywood�? that alcohol was believed to be involved in the accident. Police took a blood sample from Osment to test for alcohol and drug use upon his arrival at Huntington Hospital. The authorities will know the results of the blood test within three weeks and will prosecute if Osment was found to be intoxicated.
