Chad Lowe angered by Hilary Swank's interview

When Hilary Swank told Vanity Fair that her marital problems with Chad Lowe were caused by his substance abuse, she apparently didn’t warn Chad first. The actor is reportedly incensed that his estranged wife decided to air their dirty laundry for the public to see.

In Vanity Fair’s August issue, Swank claims that at first she was unaware of Lowe’s addiction. “When I found out, it was such a shock because I never thought he'd keep something from me,� she says. But Hilary turned the tables on Chad by dropping the bombshell of his substance abuse without his permission.

A source for Us Weekly said, "Chad was pretty surprised that Hilary would bring [his problem] into the equation." And another insider said Hilary’s decision to go public with Chad’s addiction was a low blow. The source says, "Chad has been sober for three years. He isn't ashamed of his struggle, but he really wishes Hilary wouldn't have talked publicly now."

Hilary stands by her decision and her lawyers claim that Chad was warned before she did her interview with Vanity Fair. The actress also maintains that her interview was not just a ploy to plug her upcoming movies.
