Paris Hilton apologizes for her hit and run

Paris Hilton has apologized over her hit and run incident late last week but has managed to pile the blame for her actions onto the paparazzi.

Last Thursday, Hilton hit a parked car causing damage, then left without leaving a note -- allegedly a violation of California law, and it's all on video reports TMZ

It happened after a shopping spree in trendy Robertson Blvd in L.A. with her new BFF, Kim Kardashian . After loading her shopping bags into the trunk of her Range Rover, Hilton says good-bye to Kardashian and starts to back out of the parking spot without her seat belt on -- another violation of law.

Hilton checks her mirrors and looks around, but apparently doesn't notice the parked Honda Civic behind her and slams into the bumper, causing damage to both vehicles.

Hilton then exits the public parking structure without leaving a note with her contact information, which is a misdemeanor under California law, punishable by as much as six months in jail.

Hilton's representative has claimed the tiny bump to a stationary vehicle was caused by a swarm of photographers.

According to TMZ.com, Hilton’s rep, Elliot Mintz has said: Did she commit a crime? No. She was swarmed by paparazzi .The intensity of the lights, flashbulbs, momentarily disoriented her.

"She backed up, there was a minor fender-bender. No injuries.
She then told me she notified one of the parking people at the facility how to contact her and asked the person to please pass that along to the owner of the struck car.

"Paris is a very responsible and a very good driver, she takes her driving seriously. This was unfortunate and it will be handled appropriately."
