'No Truth' to Britney Spears, Namibia-Birth Report<
Britney Spears, through her press representative, denied a report Friday that she was considering a Namibian birth for her next baby. "Not true," Spears' New York-based publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, said in an e-mail to The Associated Press. On Friday, the African nation's Deputy Environment and Tourism Minister, Leon Jooste, claimed officials had gotten an inquiry on behalf of the singer. "She has shown interest to come over to Namibia," Jooste told the Associated Press. "Nothing has been confirmed yet, but there is a definite possibility of that happening." Declining to elaborate, Jooste said, "She wants to come in very low profile and have some privacy. She might change her mind if we reveal too much now." After Spears rep denied the claim, Namibia's deputy tourism minister acknowledged on Saturday that he may have been duped into believing that Britney Spears was considering a Namibian birth for her next baby. Jooste, who is on holiday in South Africa, later explained that he had received a call on his cell phone from the United States on Monday. "Somebody told me that she (Spears) is interested in coming to Namibia and that they would contact me in the next two weeks," he said on Saturday. But the connection was so bad, he said, that he never got a name or contact information for the person. Asked if the call might have been a hoax, he said: "It is really possible." Jooste plans to look into the matter when he gets back to Namibia next week. "I am actually going to call and invite them to see if they would like to come," he said. Spears, 24, and husband Kevin Federline, 28, are parents to 9-month-old son Sean Preston. The couple are expecting their second child in September, Spears told Matt Lauer in a Dateline interview that aired Thursday night. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie recently boosted Namibia's appeal to privacy-seeking parents-to-be: After their daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, was born in the country on May 27, Pitt said the baby's birth was "truly peaceful" and that they "had top-notch medical care." Added Jolie, "We want to tell the world how magnificent this country and the people are."
