As predicted, Kidman and Urban wed in the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel on St. Patrick's Estate at Manly. Nicole arrived to the chapel in a white Rolls-Royce and opened the window to wave to waiting fans and the press. The ceremony was lit entirely by candlelight and members of the wedding party included Kidman’s daughter, Isabella as a bridesmaid, her sister Antonia as maid of honor and Antonia’s daughter Lucia as a flower girl. Nicole’s father walked her down the aisle and her mother chose readings for the ceremony. Keith’s brother was his best man and his former record producer Marlon Holden was a groomsman. Celebrity guests included Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Baz Luhrmann, Rupert Murdoch and Renee Zellweger.

Nicole wowed her guests in pearl drop earrings and a cream Balenciaga gown, which was designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere, though Ghesquiere cleverly denied knowing about the wedding in a People article published earlier this week. She carried a bouquet of white roses. The event’s other flowers were white freesias, gardenias and carnations. Keith wore a black tux with a white boutonnière.

Kidman and Urban were wed by Rev. Paul Coleman, a family friend. He confessed that Nicole had "a bit of a tear" in her eye as she recited her vows. “But she got through her vows beautifully and so did Keith, but it was just such a human, touching, solemn, uplifting moment. That is the best way I can describe it,�? he said.

A witness to the nuptials gave People some details: "Nicole cried all the way to the church in the car and then she cried all during the ceremony and had to wipe her eyes under the veil. It was the most emotional and beautiful ceremony. Nicole looked ethereal with her veil floating, like a vision in white…Keith cried when he looked at her. It was so intense. When her veil was lifted, he moved right in and he grabbed her and kissed her. It was a long, passionate kiss. [Then] everything went from being quiet and elegant and intense to really loud, like we were suddenly at a soccer game. There was screaming and hollering and such excitement. But when Nicole and Keith looked at each other it was like they were the only two people in the room. They are so deeply in love. It was the most incredible wedding."

The reception took place under a white marquee covered in pink and white roses. The reception’s theme was “passion�? and the area was decorated with red carnations that hung from chandeliers and red roses on the tables. The party included several star-studded performances. Guest Hugh Jackman sang as did Crowded House’s Neil Finn. Urban gave Kidman a surprise by serenading her with an acoustic version of his hit, "Making Memories of Us." Guest Jessica Rowe described the moment: "Everyone was sitting round at their tables and he just walked up onto the stage unannounced and pulled out his guitar and sang this beautiful song. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. She cried, everyone cried."

Nicole and Keith asked that their guests donate to the Sydney Children's Hospital rather than give them gifts. They issued the following statement to the press: "We just want to thank everyone in Australia and around the world who have sent us their warm wishes."
