McCartney and Mills split

Well, it looks like Heather Mills won’t still need husband, Paul McCartney when he’s 64. The 38-year-old former model and the 63-year-old former Beatle have called it quits. The split confirmation comes after a few weeks of speculation that their marriage of nearly four years was on the rocks.

The couple released a statement that read, "Having tried exceptionally hard to make our relationship work given the daily pressures surrounding us, it is with sadness that we have decided to go our separate ways. Our parting is amicable and both of us still care about each other very much. Separation for any couple is difficult enough, but to have to go through this so publicly, especially with a small daughter, is immensely stressful. We hope, for the sake of our baby daughter, that we will be given some space and time to get through this difficult period."

Over the years since Heather and Paul began dating, rumors have circulated that Paul’s children, particularly his fashion designer daughter, Stella, were unhappy about the union. Paul denied the claims on Heather’s website, stating, "The media sometimes suggests a rift between my kids and Heather, but in fact we get on great and anyone who knows our family can see this for themselves."

McCartney and Mills married in June 2002 in an extravagant $3.2 million wedding in Northern Ireland, just four years after McCartney’s first wife, Linda died of breast cancer. They have a daughter, Beatrice Milly, who was born in October of 2003.
