Idol Fans Flip Over Simon’s Flip-Flop

On April 25, American Idol judge Simon Cowell gave a harsh assessment of contestant Katharine McPhee’s performance of Whitney Houson’s “I Have Nothing.� At the start of the next evening’s broadcast, host Ryan Seacrest announced that the show had received “lots of complaints� about Simon being “unfair� to on contestant. Cowell then took the unprecedented step of apologizing on-air to McPhee.

Almost immediately, Internet Idol fans were ablaze with criticism of Simon’s flip-flop – and speculation that the show was rigged in McPhee’s favor!
