Jessica Simpson has denied claims she is planning to adopt.
According to reports, the singer-turned-actress wanted take in an orphan,
despite filing for divorce from husband Nick Lachey last December.
Jessica, 25, has now revealed she has no intention of raising a child, but
did confirm she, and her family, are regular contributors to several Mexican
orphanages and have been for a number of years.
The 'Dukes of Hazzard' actress - who began paying visits to children's homes
in Mexico with a church group when she was aged just 11- said: "I'm not
adopting a child. No, not yet. I support an orphanage in Mexico - that's
where the rumours come from. I haven't been down in a couple years but I'm
making a trip pretty soon actually."
It seems Jessica has had a major change of heart.
In March, the blonde star insisted she was very interested in adopting and
had been inspired to by Angelina Jolie, who is a mother to two orphaned
children, Maddox and Zahara.
She said: "I want to adopt, and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids.
"I think Angelina has done amazing things, and the international adoption
rate since her actions has just skyrocketed.
Jessica's publicist, Rob Shuter, even confirmed she was looking into
adoption, saying: "It is true that she's exploring options."
Meanwhile, Sources tell Star that Jess’s divorce from Nick Lachey is getting ugly, and he’s decided to fight for a major share of her assets. Even still, Jessica finds herself missing him terribly. The result: stressed Jess is seeking comfort in food and drinks.
