‘Angelina Jolie Gives Birth to Girl (Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt) with Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have welcomed a baby girl, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, People Magazine reports.

"The night of May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. No further information is being given," publicist Cindy Guagenti said in a statement.

Last month a source for Star Magazine confirmed that the baby was a boy. “Brad doesn’t call him the baby, he calls him ‘the little guy,�’ says a source close to the Pitt family said at the time. “He’s been raving that with the amount of kicking that’s been going on, his son is going to be a soccer player!�

According to reports, the actress' doctors convinced her to give birth by Caesarean section yesterday due to a minor complication, writes American publication In Touch.

But insiders insisted the birth would be "routine."

Earlier too Jolie had said that if the baby didn’t make it into the world by June 3, she would have labor induced at the beginning of next month.

The new parents, along with kids Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1, have been staying at a luxury resort in Namibia since April, where their personal security team and Namibian police have shielded them from paparazzi.

Last week, Brad Pitt didn't attend the premiere of his latest film, Babel, in Cannes, releasing a statement explaining his absence due to the imminent birth.

"With the imminent arrival of the newest addition to our family, I'm unable to join Alejandro (Gonzalez Innaritu), Cate (Blanchett) and Gael Garcia Bernal and the rest of the cast and crew in introducing the film," the statement read.

The new girl is the couple's first biological child. Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002 and Zahara from Ethiopia last year. Pitt is in the process of legally adopting both children.

Word that Angelina was pregnant first broke on Jan. 11, when representatives of both stars confirmed the baby news to PEOPLE after the actress and U.N. goodwill ambassador had confided to a charity aid worker in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: "Yes, I'm pregnant."

People Magazine last month named Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and their soon to-be-born child as the "World's Most Beautiful Family."The magazine's Most Beautiful People" issue featured the actress with her partner Brad Pitt. People said that this was the first time that a pregnant woman had graced its cover for this issue.
