Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt celebrate daughter's birth

For months we have chronicled every move, every bump reveal, now hollywood's most attractive couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has welcomed their first biological child.

In a passage that sounds airily like the second coming, their publicists writes of the birth

"The night of May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. No further information is being given," publicist Cindy Guagenti said in a statement.

No photographs were being released, she added.

Shiloh pronounced SHY-loh is of Hebrew origin, and means "His gift." Shiloh is also the site of a crucial battle in the American Civil War.

In a sign of media fascination with the pair, "New York" magazine recently said the baby was the most anticipated since Jesus and would be more newsworthy than the recent birth of a daughter to Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes reports CNN.com.

Following the "New York" magazine piece, Bloggers and Angelina Jolie fans started calling the baby girl, Jesus Jolie Pitt.

"I'm so excited, this is wonderful," Angelina's proud dad, Jon Voight, tells Life & Style exclusively. Voight adds, "I am just so very, very happy for both of them. My love is always with [Angelina and Brad] and I wish them all the happiness in the world. God bless them both."

Reached via cell phone, Brad's brother, Doug Pitt, was similarly elated, telling Life and Style he's overjoyed.

Angelina Jolie was scheduled to give birth by Caesarean section, Saturday, May 27, In Touch reported on Friday.

Although she had really wanted to have a natural birth, Angelina's doctors urged her to have the procedure due to a minor complication. "There's nothing seriously wrong,� an insider says. "They are expecting it all to be routine.�

Angelina had been planning to give birth at the Burning Shore Beach Lodge in Swakopmund - the African resort where she, Brad and her two adopted children, Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 16 months, have been staying for the past two months. But the doctors advised her she would be safer in a hospital.

The baby girl was scheduled to be delivered by her American doctor, assisted by local doctors, the insider adds. “Everyone is very excited, Maddox in particular,� says an insider in Africa. “He knows he is getting a new baby sister, now they are telling him how soon it will be.�
Brad -- who is legally adopting Maddox and Zahara -- was scheduled to head to France for the Cannes Film Festival last week to promote his film Babel, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and co-starring Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal. But he cancelled due to the impending birth of baby Shiloh. “With the imminent arrival of the newest addition to our family, I am unable to join Alejandro, Cate, Gael and the rest of the cast and crew introducing the film,� Brad wrote in an e-mail sent to festival-goers.

The birth comes as Brad’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston -- whose relationship with her beau and The Break-Up co-star is on rocky ground -- is busy promoting the film, which opens nationwide on June 2 reports Star Magazine.

Pitt and Jolie has been stuck in the media's glare ever since Pitt separated from his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, and rumors that Jolie and Pitt were involved before his separation from Aniston began to surface. The press gave the couple the name Brangelina reports andPOP.
Jolie, who discovered her love for Africa in her capacity as a UNHCR goodwill ambassador, is twice divorced - from Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

Ever since they went public as a couple, they could not escape the media spotlight.
