Rosie will join "The View"

When Meredith Vieira announced that she would be leaving “The View�? to replace Katie Couric on “Today,�? Patricia Heaton of “Everybody Loves Raymond�? was believed to be the frontrunner for Vieira’s soon-to-be vacant position on the daytime talk show. But it turns out another former television star will be taking the spot instead: Rosie O'Donnell.

On Thursday night, “Extra�? reported that O’Donnell would be returning to TV as Vieira’s replacement in September. The Associated Press confirmed the rumor from a source who wished to remain anonymous.

Though O’Donnell was crowned "The Queen of Nice" when her talk show was on, since leaving she’s developed a far more sinister reputation. Her blog often attacks celebrities, including Star Jones who currently serves as one of the hosts of “The View.�? It will be interesting to see how Rosie and Star interact, though some sources speculate that we won’t see the adversaries share the screen. Jones’s contract ends in September when Rosie is scheduled to debut on the show. Many suspect that Star’s contract will not be renewed.
