Katie Holmes is dead, long live Kate Holmes

Katie Holmes is continuing her morph into the perfect woman for fiancé, Tom Cruise. Shortly after the couple began dating, Cruise very intentionally started calling her Kate rather than Katie. Still the press stuck with her stage name, Katie Holmes. But Katie, whose given name is Katherine Noelle Holmes, has decided to make the change to Kate official.

While promoting his new film, Mission Impossible: III Cruise explained the switch. "Katie is a young girl's name. Her name is Kate now she's a child-bearing woman," he told reporters. On an aside: Who talks like that? Child-bearing woman? Weirdo.
