A life-sized sculpture of Britney Spears – naked, crouching as she is giving birth on a bearskin rug will be on display next month at Brooklyn's Capla Kesting Fine Art gallery.
The sculpture is to appear next to a display case filled with anti-abortion materials. I have seen this story for a few days but decided against doing it until now, simply because I don't agree with the message, in addition the piece of so called art looks nothing like Britney... OK the eyebrows do but other than that ... nothing.
I have linked up to numerous sources who have done the story, most of them just talking about the sculpture, nothing about the message.... We all have own hang-ups on different things... I think anyone promoting anything with taking a woman's right to choose is stupid.
I don't see these so called anti-abortion folk taking in any of the kids put up for adoption ... or contributing money to the foster homes... where tons of these kids end up..... I say shame on the folk who has written about this and over looked what the guy is promoting...
The piece was created by Daniel Edwards, who said he never spoke to the 24-year-old pop star or met her, and fashioned her face and figure from photographs.
"I admire her. This is an idealized figure," Edwards said Tuesday in a phone interview from his home, which is near his studio in Moosup, Conn.
"Everyone is coming at me with anger and venom, but I depicted her as she has depicted herself _ seductively. Suddenly, she's a mom."
Asked whether he's anti-abortion, Edwards said, "You nailed me. I'm not saying that I am. I wouldn't march with either pro-life or pro-choice advocates. This is not meant to be political."
HOW STUPID... GOSH WHAT HAPPENED TO ARTIST THAT STICK BY THEIR SHIT
A press release from the gallery states that the art object "celebrates the recent birth of Spears's baby boy, Sean, and applauds her decision of placing family before career." The planned exhibit will also include anti-abortion materials provided by the Manhattan Right To Life Committee.
The gallery said it received about 3,000 e-mails from around the world in just a week, split between anti-abortion and abortion rights opinions.
"We also got calls from Tokyo, England, France. Some people are upset that Britney is being used for this subject matter," said gallery co-owner David Kesting. "Others who are pro-life thought this was degrading to their movement. And some pro-choice people were upset that this is a pro-life monument."

I must be honest when my grandfather told me what my uncle had done I was shocked, and I was even more shocked when I saw it, but I'm still going to support family! I'm going to have to agree with you that the face doesn't look anything like Britney's, infact, it looks more like my Aunt Jackie the more I look at it. On the positive side, its better than his normal severed heads. The fact that he did this for pro-life is enough to say he did a great job and, though its creepy, I applaud him fully on this piece even though he could have done better. Thats all I have to say.
