Crow and Armstrong split

Gossip

Bicycler Lance Armstrong may have became a sports icon by winning the Tour de France seven times, but he became a pop culture icon by selling his yellow rubber Livestrong bracelets and dating musician Sheryl Crow. Apparently Mr. Armstrong doesn’t love strong, though. The couple of two years announced their split on Friday.

Armstrong and Crow made their break up public by issuing a statement to People magazine. "After much thought and consideration we have made a very tough decision to split up. We both have a deep love and respect for each other, and we ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time," the statement read.

Though the statement was said to be from both Lance and Sheryl, her publicist said he was not aware of it and could not comment. The couple announced their engagement last September and Crow had told Allure magazine that they planned to wed in Armstrong’s hometown of Austin, Texas.
