Britney Spears has been branded "irresponsible" by a politician - for
driving with her baby on her lap.
The pop babe sparked an outcry when she was photographed steering her SUV
with four-month-old Sean Preston perched on her knee earlier this month.
She later said she drove off with the baby out of his child seat because she
was alarmed by nearby photographers, and apologised for the mistake.
The Feb. 6 incident in Malibu prompted an inquiry from Los Angeles County child welfare workers, who asked the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to obtain Spears' "contact information." The sheriff's department itself is not investigating the matter reports EOnline
US Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta called the pictures
"troubling" - and insists there's no excuse for the singer's actions.
He said: "No matter who you are, there's absolutely no excuse for this
display - not instinct, not fear, not even reckless paparazzi.
"It's irresponsible to compromise the safety of a child for the sake of the
moment."
Mineta, who was launching National Child Passenger Safety Week, added: "Her
actions still send the wrong message to millions of her fans."
Spears, meanwhile, said in a statement that she was "really looking forward to being involved" in Mardi Gras.
"I am honored to be part of the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans this year," Spears said. "It is so important for this amazing city to continue its annual traditions."

I guess we won't hear britney saying "parents should be a child's role models, not celebrities" anymore.
