Stanley Tookie Williams executed |

Stanley ``Tookie'' Williams, a former gang leader and convicted murderer was executed by lethal injection after last-minute appeals were rejected.
The execution went ahead as scheduled after the U.S. Supreme Court late Monday rejected a last-ditch appeal.
The high court's ruling followed California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to deny clemency for Williams.
"Based on the cumulative weight of the evidence, there is no reason to second-guess the jury's decision of guilt or raise significant doubts or serious reservations about Williams' convictions and death sentence," Schwarzenegger said in a five-page statement explaining his decision.
"Without an apology and atonement for these senseless and brutal killings," Mr. Schwarzenegger wrote, "there can be no redemption. In this case, the one thing that would be the clearest indication of complete remorse and full redemption is the one thing Williams will not do."
In seeking a stay from the governor, Mr. Williams's lawyers had argued that they needed time to corroborate the accounts of three new witnesses who came forward over the last few days with evidence of Mr. Williams's innocence.
Terry Thornton, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, said the unofficial time of death was 12:35 a.m. (3:35 a.m. ET). The process of inserting the IVs to administer the lethal chemicals took about 20 minutes, with staff having particular difficulty getting a needle into Williams' left arm. While the personnel were probing, Williams repeatedly lifted his head off the gurney, winced visibly, and at one point appeared to say: "Still can’t find it?"
During the execution, the inmate’s friend Barbara Becnel and other supporters mouthed "God bless you" and "We love you" and blew kisses to Williams. Williams also seemed to mouth statements to Becnel reports Los Angeles Times.
After Williams was pronounced dead, Becnel and two other supporters of Williams turned toward the media in the witness room and yelled in unison, "The state of California just killed an innocent man!"
Mr. Williams declined to invite any witnesses to his death and said in an interview on Nov. 29 with The New York Times that he would not request a last meal.
"I'd be out of my mind to accept a meal from a place that wants to destroy me," he said.
Williams, 51, while acknowledging he had a violent past, had maintained he was innocent in the slayings.
A crowd of demonstrators began gathering outside the gates of the prison early Monday evening, with celebrities, activists and anti-death-penalty advocates pleading for Williams' life to be spared.
"I am saddened that we are continuing to demean human life by pretending that we are God and making determinations to kill other individuals for what it is claimed they have done," former "M*A*S*H" star and death penalty opponent Mike Farrell told CNN.
As Mr. Williams's supporters rallied around the state, other Californians said he deserved to be executed.
In South Central Los Angeles, where the Crips have been blamed for hundreds of killings, several residents said they believed that if Mr. Williams was guilty, he should be put to death.
"If he'd have killed your daughter, you'd want him dead," said Lee Johnson, 89, a retired construction worker. "He killed somebody. You got to pay for what you do."

I don't think that tookie had deserve to die. There is no man that can call their selfs GOD. Therefore any man or woman who went along with the execution should have to answer to GOD. GOD should be the one to make decision for people or anyone on this earth. So I feel that when they took his life they create a problem. They added blood oh their hands and should be punished for what they have done. There are only one GOD not 2 or 3 just one. GOD said if anyone do something wrong will have to answer to him.Tookie was already receiving his punishment by serving his time in prison as life sentence. Every man in this world needs to wake up. They need stop acting like they are GOD. But I believe most people don't have a heart. What are they going to do if GOD ever strike land and ask this questions. Why do you have to kill these people especially innocent people? Why are these killing taking place in this world? In this world justice needs to get right and go to church and repent for their wrong doings. In this world all it is just revelation. GOD is coming home and everyone have to answer to him. Everyone has to answer to GOD. Those who don't believe in GOD needs to get to know. He's the only man going to run this world.Unjustice don't prosper because everyone will have they day especially the one who committ a sin or who is pretending that they are GOD. This world needs to get right and ask forgiveness to my GOD who I call jesus.

I know that the system has made a terrible mistake in the death of Stanley Williams. I feel so sorry for the person that was in charge of executing him. There is only one God. Who are we to determine whether or not a person is truly redeemed (Arnold Schwarzenegger).

The execution if Tookie williams was wrong and whoever doesn't read what i have to say they can kiss my @#$!!!!! so like i said it was wrong. Tookie did not form the CRIPS cause he wanted to kill he wanted not to be killed. and as of killing him the governor has started many gang wars and struck anger in the hearts of many crips. I'm a crip fromthe west yeah but we don't fight for fun but for respect and honor and protection. And if he was to be executed then the governor should be executed ccause he has just caused many deths among gang members

Tookie was a man who wanted a better life. Most people proably would'nt understand that because they had movie contracts to make a perfect life(ARNOLD).
And you proably would'nt understand that you've gotta do what you gotta do to protect yourself.Well would'nt you fight for your life?
I believe that the whole time Tookie was in jail that was good enough punishment.but i guess not.
Tookie changed many peoples life GOD put him on earth for a reason.
What other way can you get Bloods an Crips to join together and watch a movie?
Tookie was loved by many people and children and some one (ARNOLD) made a decision that his apolodgy was no good..
So now the world has to suffer over a good loss because he was'nt perfect..
WE all make mistakes ,And i guess forgivness does not excist in this world..
All because of ARNOLD the nigga killer..
THERES A HEAVEN FOR A CRIP

I guess that the most important thing to say before I begin is that you can not put a price on life. And Stanley Tookie Williams III goes on to murder a 7-11 clerk while prone on the ground and three innocent motel workers for a grand total that does not even add up to $300. Is that a price for three lives ? A little under three hundred bucks? No, I would say it is not. So I guess it would have been all ok just to let him off the hook, right? I mean, whats four innocent lives? Nothing right? Apparently not even three hundred bucks. Was he a man innocent of his alleged crimes? No, he was not. Did he deserve the death penalty for the murder of four innocent people? Yes, he did.
