Jessica Simpson Files for Divorce
The 'Newlyweds' stars - who announced their split last month - were so smitten with each other when they tied the knot in 2002 they decided against signing a pre-nup, according to America's New York Post newspaper. The popular agreement dictates who gets which assets if a couple break up. The couple went from OK pop singers to world famous celebrities thanks to their reality TV show, "Newlyweds," which centered on their married life together in a posh Los Angeles area mansion. Reports that their union was in trouble dogged Lachey, 32, and Simpson, 25, for months before their break-up, beginning with stories following a wild bachelor party attended by Lachey in October 2004. The couple denied those stories, with Simpson telling PEOPLE: "Our relationship is better than it's ever been." At the time, the pair said in a statement: "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time." The Jessica Simpson is said to have raked in a staggering $35million last year . Jessica has asked the court to terminate Nick’s spousal rights, meaning the court would not be able to award Nick any spousal support reports Access Hollywood. |
