Pete Doherty’s life got off to a most auspicious start. He was an A student, and was accepted to Oxford University. But he dropped out, into a downward spiral that made him a superstar. They tried giving him a naltrexone implant, which makes the recipient immune to the effects of heroin, but he took up with crack, a well-named substance, as it leaves its abusers totally, utterly cracked.
Were you aware that heroin was first named by Bayer, the aspirin people, who marketed it in liquid form as a cough medicine for children? Talk about babyshambles!
They say a Rolling Stone gathers no Moss, and Pete Doherty has his problems with her also. Yet his single “F*&$ Forever, with a lyric that requires you to be crazed on crack to fully comprehend it, was a major hit in Britain. Perhaps one day, Pete will be cured of his drug addictions, and complete his Oxford degree.
