Kate Winslet has dropped three dress sizes - because she was sick of thin
actresses scooping all the top movie roles.
The star - who once vowed to keep her curves - has reportedly cut all wheat
and dairy products from her diet in a bid to lose the pounds.
A source revealed: "Kate's family were pretty alarmed last time they visited
her in the States - she knew the calorie content of everything.
"She's finding it frustrating that slimmer, often less talented girls are
getting the big roles."
The source also hinted the 'Titanic' beauty feels pressure to look good for
her husband, director Sam Mendes, who has dated a string of beautiful women
including Calista Flockhart and Rachel Weisz.
The insider revealed: "Rachel is doing really well at the moment. In August,
Sam and Kate saw her on David Letterman's TV show and Sam mentioned how good
Rachel looked. It was just a throwaway comment, but any woman whose husband
talks about their ex in glowing terms must feel some insecurity."
The source added to Britain's Grazia magazine: "Sam has always found Kate's
normality a breath of fresh air. But in show business, success isn't
measured by normality. And Sam is ambitious for both himself and Kate. She
is absolutely obsessed with Sam and determined to make their marriage work."
