Greenwich Village Pulls Out All The Stops
Last night's Greenwich Village Halloween parade took the form of a jazz funeral in homage to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. One imaginative reveler wore a Bush face mask and a strap-on dildo, with which he repeatedly fucked a hole towards the bottom of a map of Louisiana. One pair, disguised as Bush and Kayne West, featured Bush holding an "I luvs ya, Kayne!" sign and dry humping Kayne. A Harriet Miers figure wore a schlumpy pants-suit and held a "Down With Competence" sign. A flaming drag queen on roller skates danced figure eights in the street to a song with the lyrics "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." A lesbian dressed as Irene Elizabeth Stroud, the Methodist minister defrocked by the church yesterday, was repeatedly defrocked up Avenue of the Americas last night, by a priest who would then turn around to abuse a marcher dressed as an altar boy. Ghouls, demons, hobgoblins, Frankenstein's monsters and witches abounded, adding all the more anti-Bush administration flavor to the proceedings. One especially imaginative entry had a vegetable on IV in a hospital bed with George and Jeb figures praying for the IV to be left in. And of course, there was somebody in a two-faced Michael Bloomberg mask, handing fistfuls of dollars to Bush on one side while snitching pennies away from a Welfare recipient on the other.
