Sunnyvale, Calif.-based, Yahoo Inc. today announced a new service for finding, organizing and rating "podcasts."
Podcasts are audio programmes that people can subscribe to, download and listen to on their portable player, and have been likened to DIY radio shows.
The free service http://podcasts.yahoo.com/ focuses on making it easier for people to search the tons of bad podcasts currently available on the Web to find the best ones.
Unfortunately you will have to listen to each - before you decide on the good ones. On the upside, there is a rating system.
"We intend to be the most comprehensive source for podcast content," said Geoff Ralston, Yahoo's chief product officer.
It's only a matter of time before Yahoo's rivals, including online search engine leader Google Inc., introduce similar podcasting features, predicted Phil Leigh, an analyst for Inside Digital Media in Tampa, Fla writes MSNBC
