Gwyneth not fond of London |
Several years ago, Gwyneth Paltrow followed in her friend Madonna's footsteps and decided to eschew America for a life in London. But it seems Ms. Paltrow has become disenchanted with her adopted British home. In an interview with Marie Claire magazine, Gwyneth revealed what she really thinks of England: it's cold and depressing. She also thinks it's dirty. "My husband thinks I'm way too obsessed with cleanliness and germs," Gwyneth admits. "I'm just like, 'The street is filthy, could we take off our shoes before we come into the house?' He used to imitate me and say, 'Ewwww, oh my God!'" Gwyneth also complains about customer service in the UK, claiming it is "rubbish." "They'll tell you it'll take two weeks for your internet service to be fixed! It drives me nuts," whined Paltrow.
Now the British are saying to Gywneth, "If you don't like it, then go home." A representative for a British tourism board told the Daily Mail, "We dispute what Miss Paltrow has said. Thanks to the work of groups like Keep Britain Tidy, the streets...are cleaner than they have been in decades. And the best thing about our service is how polite we are - something the millions of Americans who visit Britain each year really appreciate." Take that, Gwyneth.
