Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's recent trip to Italy was a last-ditch attempt to save their marriage, according to music manager Lou Pearlman , IOL reports. Muscle hunk Nick Lachey chatted to Star about the week-long romantic vacation
"We went to Italy to celebrate our third wedding anniversary early," Nick said (the anniversary is on Oct. 26). "I'd never been there before and it was great to go there for the first time with Jessica."
He said that he and Jess visited the city of Florence as well as a number of other Tuscan towns and even "rented a villa on the beach - there was no shortage of romance!"
Now that he's back in the U.S., Nick said, "I have a new appreciation for how new this country is. In Italy, everything is hundreds of years old and people are still living in it. It was a very romantic place to spend time." And a romantic place to drink and dine, too! "We did a lot of wine tasting. My favorite was Chianti," he revealed.
"I must have gained eight or nine pounds. My six-pack is buried under all that food!"
