Supermodel Kate Moss was given a boost when she secured November's W magazine cover, her first fashion magazine cover since damaging allegations of cocaine abuse reports This is London.
Three weeks ago, The Mirror tabloid newspaper printed grainy pictures that apparently showed the 31-year-old supermodel snorting cocaine. As a result, Moss has lost several lucrative modeling contracts -- with Burberry, Chanel and H&M, among them.
Deputy editor Julie L Belcove writes: "It has always been Moss's complexity, piercingly evident in her expressive face, that has made her so compelling to look at.
"Whether it's also the source of her troubles is impossible to know. But she has become an icon."
W's creative director Dennis Freedman said it had been a "natural" decision for the influential New York-based publication to support the model.
"Kate Moss has been an inspiration to the magazine and to our photographers and over the years she has demonstrated an unfailing loyalty to the magazine and we have returned that loyalty.
