Veteran punk group, Green Day took home seven moonmen for "American Idiot" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" at Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards, while newcomers The Killers and Fall Out Boy each grabbed one of their own reports People Magazine.
"This kind of response, I don't know, it's like you're at the biggest party in the United States right now and the song that gets most nominated and most celebrated is the biggest hangover," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told reporters after the show.
Kanye West won best male video for his "Jesus Walks" video.
The highlighs of the night included an exchange between presenters Lil' Kim and "Entourage" actor Jeremy Piven. "You know, she's about to go to the big house for lying," the actor said, referring to Kim's recent conviction for perjury. "I'd like to place a call to the warden and upgrade your situation."
When Piven continued the jabs, Kim said, "Jeremy, I think I've suffered enough."
Fat Joe, still upset by 50's criticism of him in his song PIGGY BANK earlier this year (05), stated, "I feel so safe tonight with all this police protection, courtesy of G-Unit," during his presentation speech for Best Hip-Hop Video
Fat Joe didn't have the last word either - G-Unit star TONY YAYO called him "Pussy boy, fat boy" at the end of his performance with 50 Cent, before yelling, "F**k Fat Joe".
"Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria, donned a skimpy one-piece pink bathing suit that featured a plunging neckline to introduce another highlight Mariah Carey, who performed a solid two-song medley outside of the Show.
"Hey Diddy, you said anything goes, and I wasn't going to let a little hurricane prevent me from wearing my bathing suit!" Eva Longoria said.
Other than that , the show was a hot mess.
