Diddy drops the 'P'

It's just 'Diddy' now

Take note: Sean "Puffy" Combs has finally settled on his new name. And it's a good thing too. The rapper/actor/designer/mogul will be hosting the MTV Video Music Awards at the end of the month (and we all know from the Prince incident how hard it is to discuss someone without a name). He is now to be referred to as just "Diddy". No P. Diddy made the announcement yesterday on "Today" and, according to Gawker, he said, "I felt the 'p' was coming between me and my fans." He further explained the problem in an article for the New York Post. "I went to a concert in Madison Square Garden last year and the crowd started to chant my name," he said. "Let's just say the name P. Diddy didn't quite flow. I realized immediately I had a problem." With the P gone, the problem's solved. At least until Martha Stweart starts going by Middy.
