Coming in the wake of Tom Cruise's idiotic attack on Brooke Shields for her having taken anti-depression medicines, Kirstie "Fat Ass" Alley and Kelly Preston, avowed and card-carrying Scientologists both, have sent letters to the FDA urging that agency to ban Ritalin, claiming that that medicine is like cocaine and heroin and stating that young people are using it as a recreational drug.

Firstly, we take exception to these two maligning cocaine. Secondly, there doubtless are hundreds of prescription medicines which certain persons abuse, but that fact is in no way an argument for keeping the medicines from those who legitimately benefit from them. Ritalin in particular has helped people with various medical conditions, sparing those people much suffering. The Bosh proposes just saying no to Scientology. (By Scott Rose)
