Fox expects Paula Abdul to return
The Fox network said on Thursday that an "independent counsel" will look into whether American Idol judge Paula Abdul had an affair with former contestant Corey Clark , and whether she advised him on his performances while he was a contestant on the show in 2003, the Associated Press reports. Corey Clark went public with his allegations on a special edition of the news magazine "Prime-time Live" carried in May by rival network ABC. FOX Entertainment President Peter Liguori said the show's credibility "extraordinarily important to us".

"Any allegations against this show we take quite seriously," according to The Associated Press. Abdul was recently part of another FOX talent show, So You Think You Can Dance, and Liguori said that auditions for the fifth season of Idol would proceed as planned in August reports People Magazine.

The probe may not be completed before production begins on the upcoming fourth season of "American Idol," set to air in January 2006, Liguori said.

"At this point, we have nothing that specifically says she shouldn't be showing up for work," he said.
