Cruise's secret height boots

Gossip

Cruise ashamed of height
Tom Cruise has always appeared to have all the confidence in the world. But there's one area the actor is particularly sensitive about: his height. At 5'7", Tom doesn't always measure up with his fellow leading men. And he's practically dwarfed by fiancee, Katie Holmes (5'9") when she wears heels. So when it comes to his films, Tom wants to convey the illusion of height. A costume designer who often works with Cruise, told British gossip newsletter, Holy Moly, that Tom usually asks for two different pairs of boots when working on a movie. The first pair has regular soles and is used for close-ups. The second pair has two-inch heels and an inch-and-a-half rise hidden on the inside. That brings Cruise to a healthy 5'10.5". The costume designer also claims that when Tom worked with Brad Pitt, who measures in at 6 feet, he asked her to make Brad's boots "flatter". (By Kate Lanahan)
