Christian Slater turned down a plea deal in Manhattan Criminal Court Thursday morning on charges he allegedly groped a woman. Slater is charged with sexual abuse and forcibly touching a woman's buttocks, both misdemeanors. If convicted, Slater could face up to a year in jail.
Under the deal, Slater would have to perform three days of community service in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree harassment.
Slater's attorney, Eric Franz told Judge Richard Weinberg that the case "warrants dismissal."
The 35-year-old actor was charged after he allegedly walked up behind a woman and grabbed her buttocks as she was buying a soda in a small grocery store on Manhattan's Upper East Side in the early morning of May 31 reports People Magazine.
