There's no accounting for taste. Teen popstar Hilary Duff has agreed to be the next spokesmodel for Candies shoes, the ugly platform sandals from the '70s that made a comeback in the mid-'90s. Now, however, Candies makes an array of tacky shoes, from sneakers to stilettos. "I am so excited to be the new Candie's girl," Duff said. "There have been so many cool people that have done (their) ads in the past, and I feel like I am in good company with a lot of really cool people." Those "really cool" people included Jenny McCarthy, Mark McGrath and the Dixie Chicks. Congratulations, Hilary! Your star is on the way down! Pretty soon you'll be promoting Pier One in a gigantic ballgown.
