The autopsy on Terri Schiavo revealed that her brain had shrunk to one-half the size of a normal one. Medical experts found nothing inconsistent with the diagnosis that she was in a "persistent vegetative state." Of course, one can do quite a lot with half a brain. Look at George W. Bush. He used up all kinds of energy trying to get the feeding tube left in Terri; given the other half of a brain he might also have been devising a quick disengagement in Iraq, where young people with their entire brains intact are needlessly killed every day. The autopsy found that Terri died of dehydration, like a potted geranium forgotten during an extended vacation. Wagging tongues say that when Terri went to heaven, she became a vegetable angel, with carrot greens instead of a halo atop her head. (By Scott Rose)
