Fabian Basabe not Fabulous ?
"I don't work, and a lot of people just don't understand that," the 26-year-old Basabe says. "People focus mainly on the glamour and think that if you're on television and in the public eye, you have a perfect life." Au contraire, Basabe warns. "Most of the time it's great, but it comes with a lot of responsibility." Public records reveal that his father, Fabian Basabe Sr., an Ecuadorian emigre who was thought to be a telecom entrepreneur, has a strong aversion to paying his bills in a timely fashion. American Express, for example, obtained a judgment against Basabe Sr. in August 2001 for $27,233, but only acknowledged "full payment and satisfaction thereof" this spring. Court records dating back more than 15 years show that Basabe Sr. has consistently faced angry creditors in court, reports PAGE SIX's Tom Sykes. |
